Google doesn’t like SEO professionals! At the very least they don’t like what we do. Google pretends to like us. They invite us to great parties out at the home office in Mountain View. Very nice parties with girls in bunny suits (ooops, wrong company). Net-net… Google doesn’t like SEO pros.
Why? Because effective SEO cuts into their bottom line.
When businesses get top search rankings they don’t need to buy traffic, which is how Google makes billions of dollars each quarter.
So wise up and get over it… Google is not your friend!
They don’t want your business website to achieve top rankings and get free traffic, even when it provides “the best and most relevant results” to their users.
Of course it happens from time to time. Many business sites get top rankings however, the ratio is kind of like the Great American Dream. Just put your nose to the grindstone and with a little luck you too can become a rock star, sports legend, billionaire… have a website with lots of top rankings in Google’s search results.
By now you’re thinking, “Wow, D.K. is so cynical about Google.”
I’m not cynical… I’ve just been working in SEO since 1997 and have seen first-hand how Google can manipulate the entire search process to their financial advantage.
If you just can’t believe that… I have some land for you in Florida and a great deal on a slightly used bridge in New York.
Part 2 of this SEO series will explore how and what a business website owner can do to counteract Google’s ambivalence.

Yes, it is always strange when the 99% “love” the 1%. Google is about making money. They openly admit that if the government wants to spy on your email account they will not tell you. Use an email provider that AT LEAST tells you when your email is being tapped! and preferably goes to court for you to try and minimally fight for you.
I saw you scarfing down those crabmeat appetizers at Googleplex and you weren’t complaining or calling them out about manipulating serps.
You weren’t there when they carried my food taster out of the room…
